Taurino Bulls take 2nd Place in the League!
Seems that the events of Saturday have put the Bulls in 2nd place, beneath the Gunners in the 11v11 Saturday league! This is a great accomplishment for our team, and I know I speak for everyone when I say we are excited to have earned this.

Taurino Bulls vs Goats 8/27 2:0 Slideshow
Taurino Bulls vs. GOATS 8.27
Although we were left with a bit of a motley crew on Saturday, due to injuries, and some no-shows, the Bulls took the Goats 2:0.
The Bulls defense were quite impressive, led by our trusty stopper, Craig on the backline. He worked hard and actually got our first goal of the game, on an offensive rush!
The newest official member of the Bulls, Daniel, really stuck it out. Andrew, in goal, and Andrew on defense helped us out and we were very happy to have them both.
Ex Bulls defenseman, Chris Chacon, definitely had the spotlight on him, as it seemed almost every time someone had the balll, he was nearby. We miss Chris on the Bulls, but hats are off to him on the Goats as a leader, and certainly a defense threat for our offense. See him below with Bulls striker, and team leading goal scorer, Thad Barfield.
We were really excited to have Marlon back this week, he was certainly a vital force up front.
It wouldn't be Southbay Sports, if the officiating wasn't, shall we say "interesting". The Bulls scored their second goal, and then subsequently scored 2 more, which were both called back, due to being "offsides". After reviewing our videotape, we still can't seem to make any sense of that.
It's obvious the Goats benefitted from the lack of regular Bulls defense on Saturday, but they did give them a run for their money, and kept the Bulls on their toes the entire game. Cheers to them.
Next week we are off due to the Labor Day holiday, but look to reconvene with our entire team for the last game of regular season, vs the #1 team in the league, the Gunners. Go Bulls!

Bulls vs. FC Lions 8.20.10
The Bulls were out in full force Saturday, as they took on the FC Lions at Aviation Field at 4pm.
The games started out with a bang, Sam getting 3 goals (the hat trick! do I see a trend here?) in the first half. These goals were assisted by Mark (borrowed from the Gunners), and Ben, our trusty defender.
Thad scored, a goal assisted by Dennis. Julio and Thad worked together or Julio's goal. Raul's goal was assisted by Sam, and I believe Oscar's goal was unassisted.
Final score at 4pm, 7:2 Bulls. Nice show.
Taurino Bulls vs FC Eagles 5.14.10
Apologies for the late update on last week's game, I was on vaycay in Ohio, having a fabulous time. While there, I heard that the Bulls crushed the FC Eagles, 6:3.
Thad Barfield led the pack, with the 3-peat (or hat trick) scoring 3 goals in one game! Assists from Craig, Aryan, and Nahum.
Nahum, Victor & Aryan followed up with 1 goal each to put the Bulls in the lead 6:3.
The Bulls struggle at this time with a good deal of injuries from the past few weeks. Rob, out with a broken kneecap, Shane with his ACL, Spencer is hurt as well. We will band together to victory boys!
Keep up the kickass work!

Aug 7, 2010 - Bulls vs. Harbor United slideshow video
Bulls vs. Harbor United Aug 7, 2010 - Game Recap
Last weekend, the Bulls played their 2nd game against the 2nd place, Harbor United team. The first meeting was not a pleasant one for the Bulls, as we fared a mere 5:1 losing with 1 goal by Thad Barfield, and 5 goals against. Now, this was the first game of the season, and the Bulls had not yet, found their "horns" so to speak.
It's fair to assume that the Harbor United boys thought this 2nd matchup against the Bulls would be an easy win after their last victory against the team. I also believe they were surprised to see a newly seasoned Bulls Football Club last Saturday at Aviation Field. Full of not only our Veterans from our usual group (Charlie,Thad, Dennis, Craig, Mark, Alfonso, Victor, and the trusty Shane to name a few) but also some new faces (Spencer, Arion, and our goalie Prince Michael). We were missing a few of our key members Saturday, so we were lucky enough to pick up a few guys who were looking to help out, which we always appreciate. We're hoping Richard, Ben, and the ever-faithful Joey will return for next Saturdays game vs. the Eagles.
This season we have seen some less than stellar officiating over at Aviation Field, which is totally the opposite of last season. This game was beyond even our wildest expectations, as the ref and linesman had absolutely no care in the world about what was going on, during play, or behind play. Needless to say, words were had by both clubs, and it got rather nasty. I personally am glad we don't have to play those shmo's again this season. Good riddance Harbor United. Can't wait to take you down....
The first goal of the day was by Craig, pushing up offensively during a corner kick and making his presence known in front with a jump for a beautiful header that completely shocked their goaltender, and all the fans.

There were many unexplicable calls made by the refs on Saturday, but the one that continues to baffle us to this day is Thad's take down in the penalty box. We think the ref may have thought he got his shot off and therefore didn't
deserve a PK, we thought otherwise.

Hope to see you Saturday 8/14 as the Bulls take on the Eagles F.C.
