Saturday 9.11 Taurino Bulls vs. Gunners

In a really motley effort late Saturday night, the Bulls lost to the #1 team Gunners at Aviation Field, 5:1.  Part of the issue, is trying to get guys together at 9pm on a Saturday night, at the error of the league, last minute changes causing us a lot of logistics issues getting our team together, not cool Southbay League.

Interestingly, this is only the 2nd loss all season for the Bulls, and we are quite proud of our record.

It was the triumphant return of our #1 goaltender, Manny Placentia, as well as one of our faithful Midfielders Joey.

No excuses, but we were missing a good number of our regular, key guys.  However, we picked up some guys that were willing to give up their late Saturday to come out and play with us, and we appreciate that.

Looking forward to the schedule for playoffs, we'll be back!

Taurino Bulls take 2nd Place in the League!

Seems that the events of Saturday have put the Bulls in 2nd place, beneath the Gunners in the 11v11 Saturday league!  This is a great accomplishment for our team, and I know I speak for everyone when I say we are excited to have earned this.

Taurino Bulls vs Goats 8/27 2:0 Slideshow

Taurino Bulls vs. GOATS 8.27

Although we were left with a bit of a motley crew on Saturday, due to injuries, and some no-shows, the Bulls took the Goats 2:0.

The Bulls defense were quite impressive, led by our trusty stopper, Craig on the backline.  He worked hard and actually got our first goal of the game, on an offensive rush!

The newest official member of the Bulls, Daniel, really stuck it out.  Andrew, in goal, and Andrew on defense helped us out and we were very happy to have them both.

Ex Bulls defenseman, Chris Chacon, definitely had the spotlight on him, as it seemed almost every time someone had the balll, he was nearby.  We miss Chris on the Bulls, but hats are off to him on the Goats as a leader, and certainly a defense threat for our offense.  See him below with  Bulls striker, and team leading goal scorer, Thad Barfield.

We were really excited to have Marlon back this week, he was certainly a vital force up front.

It wouldn't be Southbay Sports, if the officiating wasn't, shall we say "interesting".  The Bulls scored their second goal, and then subsequently scored 2 more, which were both called back, due to being "offsides".  After reviewing our videotape, we still can't seem to make any sense of that.

It's obvious the Goats benefitted from the lack of regular Bulls defense on Saturday, but they did give them a run for their money, and kept the Bulls on their toes the entire game.  Cheers to them.

Next week we are off due to the Labor Day holiday, but look to reconvene with our entire team for the last game of regular season, vs the #1 team in the league, the Gunners.  Go Bulls!

Bulls vs. FC Lions 8.20.10

The Bulls were out in full force Saturday, as they took on the FC Lions at Aviation Field at 4pm.

The games started out with a bang, Sam getting 3 goals (the hat trick! do I see a trend here?) in the first half.  These goals were assisted by Mark (borrowed from the Gunners), and Ben, our trusty defender.

Thad scored, a goal assisted by Dennis.  Julio and Thad worked together or Julio's goal.  Raul's goal was assisted by Sam, and I believe Oscar's goal was unassisted.

Final score at 4pm, 7:2 Bulls.  Nice show.

Taurino Bulls vs FC Eagles 5.14.10

Apologies for the late update on last week's game, I was on vaycay in Ohio, having a fabulous time.  While there, I heard that the Bulls crushed the FC Eagles, 6:3.

Thad Barfield led the pack, with the 3-peat (or hat trick) scoring 3 goals in one game!  Assists from Craig, Aryan, and Nahum.

Nahum, Victor & Aryan followed up with 1 goal each to put the Bulls in the lead 6:3.

The Bulls struggle at this time with a good deal of injuries from the past few weeks.  Rob, out with a broken kneecap, Shane with his ACL, Spencer is hurt as well.  We will band together to victory boys!

Keep up the kickass work!
